The Volkswagen Beetle, originally designed with the highly coveted rear split-window, was first released in 1938. Later, in 1953 an updated version of the Beetle featuring an oval rear window was introduced.

 

 

Both the split window and oval window versions of the Volkswagen Beetle have seen consistent price increases since 2011, with an average yearly increase of approximately 15% for both models across all rankings. However, in 2016, the split window model experienced an extraordinary price increase of around 60%.

At present, the market prices for both models are quite similar, as illustrated in the chart provided. It's interesting to note that this wasn't always the case as, in 2016, the split window version was on average 30-70% more expensive than the oval window version.

The graph below depicts the clear declining trend in the price gap between the two models. At present, the only significant difference in price is observed between rank #4 (least desirable).
